Review: [please feel free to message me if anyone would like to know more]
Our bathroom renovation journey, which began over a year and a half ago, has evolved into a protracted and frustrating ordeal. What was intended to be a renovation to address water damage on our white marble tiles in a newly constructed building has turned into an ongoing nightmare.
Initially, we engaged a renovation group that seemed promising. Their previous reviews were positive, which led us to believe they were competent and experienced. (We now think their glowing reviews are fraudulent). Unfortunately, their performance soon revealed significant shortcomings.
From the outset, it became apparent that the group lacked the necessary expertise. They struggled to source materials and hardware for our project. Instead of relying on their supposed industry knowledge, we found ourselves spending hours online searching for suitable materials. They were unfamiliar with some of the well-known luxury material distributors in the city, further complicating the process.
Despite these early concerns, we remained hopeful and continued to push forward. However, what started as minor inconveniences quickly escalated into major problems. As construction approached, the group repeatedly assured us that the project would take around one month. A week before construction was set to begin, they discovered that the tub size they had ordered did not match the technical drawings. This mistake forced them to revert to the original hardware--hardware that had caused issues in the initial build of the building.
This error marked the beginning of a series of cascading problems. The group's disorganization and poor communication soon became glaringly evident. They drilled the shower rail guards backwards, necessitating the removal and plugging of costly tiles. The tech also filled in the weep holes in the shower holes with caulking by mistake. So water to this day cannot drain through the weep holes. Also, the sink was installed backwards, and they only discovered the error when we pointed it out. Plumbing issues compounded the problems; the sink's plumbing was done poorly, and their plumber attempted to install an illegal trap, which we had to correct based on our family's construction business experience. Then, the plumber had to come multiple times because the sink would not drain. Leaks were another significant issue. Once the pipes were installed, we discovered that both the sink and the toilet were leaking. We had to intervene once more, instructing the plumber and the group on proper installation procedures. Additionally, the caulking used for the tub was apparently defective, requiring them to redo it but they forgot they had to dry the wet tub first.
With all these mistakes, the project manager inexplicably never came on site, except for the first day of construction. The tech and the manager just communicated via cell phone photos.
Also, we were frequently informed that a technician would arrive to address problems, leading us to vacate the premises for weekends. Unfortunately, these tech visits often resulted in no-shows, with no explanation.
The bathroom floor heater still does not work to this day. And, we still don't have a glass shelf they broke, which they said was being cut to size 1.5 years ago.
As a $2,500 credit for their errors and an unpaid $900+ does not compensate for the ongoing ordeal, we are now considering other avenues.

Review: Modern Citi Group just finished a kitchen remodel in our Upper East Side condo. What i liked is that Daniil really listened to what we wanted and came up with a design that maximized our small space. They installed custom cabinets, quartz countertop, new floors, and new appliances. The attention to detail was impressive. Our project manager Frank kept us updated throughout the process. They're not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. We saved a lot of time and decision making with MCG, since they did most of the planning for us, including dealing with the board approval, selecting fixtures and materials, coming up with design ideas, etc

Review: We used home remodeling contractor Modern Citi Group for a full gut renovation of our 100+ year old brownstone in Bed Stuy. Daniil and his team did an amazing job. They refinished and supported the original staircase, created a stunning open kitchen, did bathroom remodeling of all 3 bathrooms, replaced all the flooring, baseboards, crown moldings, skim coated all walls, installed drop ceilings, recessed lights throughout the house. The bathrooms are like spa retreats now, that's what we get from our guests. Project took almost a year but the results are breathtaking. Licenced contractor MCG is the real deal. Given the size of our project we did take the contractor selection process pretty seriously, and what stood out about MCG is that they handle everything under one roof, they have designer that creates visualizations of every room, showing how exactly it will look like based on the materials we select, they have a material selection designer that helps to pick all the materials, from tile to doorknobs, literally everything, then they have their architect that creates technical drawings which lists all the materials that are being installed, and how they should be installed. When the work started, we had Frank, our project manager that was always there. Besides that we had a group chat with him and he always replied quickly even if it was late hours. We are happy with the choice we made!

Review: These guys have great reviews, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more negative ones pop up soon. My project was supposed to take 2 months and ended up taking almost 6, filled with countless headaches. It’s been a nightmare for me and my family over the past year.
The issues started early and persisted throughout the project, which I hesitate to even call 'finished.' While their online app and website are slick, their process is over-engineered. After the initial visit, it was nearly impossible to get anyone to come back and adjust the quote. Problems that could’ve been solved with a phone call dragged out for days due to endless emails and unnecessary bureaucracy. If you want to pick your own decor items, expect them to tack on a 25% surcharge plus tax to handle them. Their process is rigid, with too many layers of involvement.
Our project manager was rarely on-site and often seemed clueless about what the workers were doing. Communication was a mess—most of the team didn’t speak English, and the one person who did was rarely present. Delays were constant, with excuses and unrealistic blockers, like insisting I finalize outlet placements before any other work could continue. Plumbing and wall repairs, which were unrelated, were left untouched during these waits. Workers seemed reassigned to other projects, leaving mine idle for long stretches.
There were countless mishaps. For example, they charged me for a custom door only to admit two months later that they couldn’t make it, forcing me to scramble to find a replacement. They also failed to clear essential prerequisites with my building management, like moving a drain needed for our shower plans. When the time came to do the work, they couldn’t proceed, leading to a complete rescoping of the project.
Weekly calls to address delays became a pointless exercise, repeating the same excuses. Financial discrepancies were rampant, with duplicate charges frequently appearing on bills. For instance, they tried to charge me for protecting an area I’d already paid for. After back-and-forth, they admitted it was included but then didn’t provide the protection anyway.
The site was always filthy, with minimal effort to clean or cover floors and rooms.
Attempts to contact the owner were ignored.
There were two bright spots: Julicia, a project manager who clearly did her best under challenging circumstances, and a couple of subcontractors who were competent (luckily, I spoke their native language; otherwise, the project would’ve been doomed).
Overall, I can’t see how this company will stay in business if it treats customers and their homes as poorly as it did ours. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere—and maybe check out my upcoming book about this ordeal.

Review: We hired a residential general contractor Modern Citi Group for a complete gut renovation of our 2-bedroom apartment in Astoria, Queens. Anna and her team were amazing from start to finish. Viktoriya was our material selection designer that helped us pick all the materials, including tile, doors, cabinets, vanity, shower doors, They gutted our old kitchen, remodeled both bathrooms, knocked down a wall to open up the kitchen, and redid all the flooring and baseboards. The attention to detail was incredible. The project took about 10 weeks but was worth the wait. Our apartment looks like a totally different place now. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for quality work.
